Acapulco Nights 8/24/13, Memorial Tribute to George Duke

This week we pay tribute to the late George Duke. The American, singer, keyboardist, song writer, and producer, passed away August 5. He's known for his work with Frank Zappa through the 70s, as well as his solo albums and his collaborations with other fantastic players in the evolution of jazz, most notably, Billy Cobham, Jean-Luc Ponty, Flora Purim, and Stanley Clark. Duke was a major innovator of the ARP Odyssey synthesizer. He also produced a slew of pop and RnB records in 80s, and was sampled as the basis of many house and hip hop tracks, giving his music a long legacy in the clubs. He continued to play, record, and produce, until his death. Duke has such a large discography, so Studebaker Hawk decided to focus on his favorites from Duke's music in the 70s and 80s.
