Acapulco Nights 1120/15, Memorial Tribute to Allen Toussaint

This week, we celebrate, the late, Allen Toussaint. The American singer, pianist, song writer, producer, and record label owner, past away on November 10, after a show in Madrid, Spain. He was influential in the creation of New Orleans soul and funk, and a major voice in American music. In addition to his fame as a solo artist, he wrote for, produced, and played with, many other artists, the likes of Dr. John, Labelle, Paul McCartney, The Meters and Neville Brothers, Elvis Costello, etc. Studebaker Hawk plays some of his favorites from Toussaint's discography. In hour two he gets into some of the records Toussaint played on for other artists. In January, to remember Toussaint on what would have been his 78th birthday, we'll do a show focussing on the artists Toussaint wrote for and produced.
